BLM Resolution

June, 2020
We stand together to voice our unequivocal opposition to centuries of structural racism and violence perpetrated against black lives.

As an organization that supports and advances equity, justice, and quality of life for the LGBTQIA community, we are committed to that same work on behalf of all those who suffer prejudice, discrimination, and systematic oppression by our nation’s institutions.

We see that the progress our LGBTQIA community has made since the Compton’s Cafeteria riots and the Stonewall uprising of the 1960s has not benefited all its members equitably, and we recognize we must do more and do better.

As part of that work, we commit to:

• Listening
• Encouraging others to join this vital movement against racism in all its forms
• Amplifying the voices and experiences of those most impacted by prejudice, bigotry, racism, and similarly motivated violence
• Searching for ways that we as an organization and individuals can create a more just and equitable southwest Wisconsin where ALL people are welcome, valued, and respected
• Pro-actively urging our southwest Wisconsin communities to vote as a means to help bring about the major societal change required to create a world in which all people thrive.

Sincerely,

The Southwest Wisconsin Rainbow Alliance
